It was very beffiting for the Governor of New Jersey to have flown the flag at half mast for Whitney Houston and Clarence Clemons, after all the were very well loved, admired and respected, not only in the United States but around the world. Other than the beautiful shore and the PNC Bank Theater, Jersey really dosen't have much to be proud of.... New Jersians should be grateful to have born these two legendary icons and to claim them as their own. Thanks Governor Cristy for having an exceptional sense of recognition of what real people consider important.... YOU GO BOY!!!

$?@!# you all. I had no issues with the Governor's decision......I loved Whitney dearly. She was honored the way that Governor Christie wanted to honor her. Regular people die everyday Whitney was far from regular she was an Icon. RIP my love!

Red, you are so right. She was an entertainer and a alot of people liked her but she was not a hero who died fighting for their country. There's a big difference. I think the Governor should appologize to the people for doing this. Hopefully no other Governor will make this same mistake.

Whitney Houston was one -of- a- kind. So tragic the way her life ended. But she left a great legacy, nonetheless. I pray her daughter will learn from her mother's mistakes and not take that same tragic turn(drugs, alcohol) in the road. My prayers to the entire family.

I absolutely loved Whitney Houston, she will always be with us, her voice lives on forever and she is so missed. I do have a problem with the flags being flown at half staff, I think the Governor made a big mistake by doing that (while I understand his reasoning) it was wrong and now what's to prevent others who want the flag flown at half staff for their fallen loved ones from challenging what he did. A flag flown at half staff is suppose to be for fallen heros who died fighting for our country or heads of state, As much as we all love and miss Whitney Houston, she didn't die fighting for our country and she wasn't a head of state. Their are other ways that Governor could have honored her.
